Angel Wings Dog Costume

After a while of contemplating as to whether Luna's costume should be Bolt or an angel this year, I decided on the angel. However, I ran into a problem; I couldn't find any decent angel costumes for dogs out there (they were all poor quality) and it is very expensive to commission an artist to make one. So, as I always do when I want something but can't find it, I made it myself! c:

I got the supplies from Hobby Lobby (it's like artist heaven there), with the exception of the glue gun, which I bought for around $8 at Walmart, and the wire, which my grandpa gave me. It took three bags of large feathers (18 feathers in total), one bag of several small feathers, about 40-48 inches of wire, and some white felt. All in all, it cost $10-$15 and took about 6 hours to make.  

These are quite durable and no feathers have fallen out so far!

Each wing has 12 inches of excess wire covered in felt at the end to tie around her collar (I'd prefer a harness, but I don't have one). Humans can wear them too! I must admit I had fun wearing them around the house yesterday. XD I need to figure out a better way to attach them to Luna while I'm walking her on the leash. Maybe I'll be able to go out and buy her a harness tomorrow... I think the feed market in town may have some.

Anyways, we are totally gonna win the costume contest tomorrow at our local humane society's fundraiser! (If they don't get messed up while I'm trying to walk her on the leash that is... wish me luck!)

I just love Luna's expressions in these. XD She makes the cutest faces. <3
