Pokey with her Hospital Collar

Pokey went to a special hospital yesterday with my mom (I couldn't go because I had school and it was the soonest mom could get her in) and they absolutely loved Pokey. I didn't know they had admission bands for doggies too! They gave Pokey her own collar with her patient information on it, as you can see here.

The oncologist said that Pokey is in the most advanced stage of cancer. Without chemo therapy she will only live about another month. But chemo therapy can give her an extra 3 months or more on her life and I'd love her to have her with me for Christmas and more; plus, she deserves that time. If her white blood cell count is high enough on her next visit she will be able to get put on chemo therapy. The chemo will be in pill form. But each visit will be around $300. So I am still open for any type of commission in order to help pay for the chemo Pokey needs.

Pokey went through her first round of IV medication to start fighting her cancer. She is still on steroids. (The cost all together was about $500) Chemotherapy for dogs is much less miserable than it is for humans; dogs usually are fine with it and have their quality life dramatically improved with the chemo very quickly. Almost all of Pokey's swelling is down and she has no more purple spots on her underbelly. She is able to jump up on my futon again (which isn't that tall, but still is an improvement) and she is definitely more perky. Chemotherapy is not a cure for cancer; but it extends their life and its overall quality.

I'm hoping and praying for a miracle that Pokey will somehow overcome this
